Illinois strengthens encryption regulation, sets a daily limit of $2500 for ATMs.

[Chain News] On August 19, it was reported that the Governor of Illinois signed the "Digital Asset and Consumer Protection Act" and the "Digital Asset Self-Service Terminal Act," requiring encryption exchanges to accept state regulation, implement anti-fraud and cybersecurity measures, and establish registration, fraud refunds, an 18% fee cap, and a daily limit of $2,500 for new users for ATM operators. The governor criticized the Trump administration for loosening federal encryption regulations. In 2024, losses from encryption fraud in Illinois reached $272 million.
