ARK Invest purchased over 2.5 million shares of Bullish on the first day of listing on the New York Stock Exchange

  • Ark Invest has purchased over 2.5 million bullish stocks through its three ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds), ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF.
  • Blish shares have surged nearly 100% since their debut on the New York Stock Exchange, outperforming the declining cryptocurrency market.
  • This movement follows Cathie Wood's company making a large initial investment in Circle, which has just recently been listed, and also investing in eToro.

Ark Invest stated that it purchased over 2.5 million shares of the company on August 13, the day when the cryptocurrency platform Bric was listed and surged during its first trading on the New York Stock Exchange, securing shares worth over $170 million (approximately 25 billion yen, based on an exchange rate of 148 yen per dollar) by the end of that day.

On the 13th, the stock price of Brish soared from the IPO price of $37 to a maximum of $102, closing at $68, an increase of 84%. According to the documents submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company sold 20.3 million shares in the IPO and also attracted interest from BlackRock.

Ark has added 1,714,522 shares of its flagship fund, the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK), 545,416 shares of the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW), and 272,755 shares of the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF) to its bullish stocks.

The rise of the British stock continued on the 14th, and at the time of writing this article, it is trading up 15%. This performance occurred as the broader cryptocurrency market declined, partially offsetting the increase from the previous day when Bitcoin (BTC) recorded a historic high of $124,000. The CoinDesk 20 Index has dropped about 2.1% in the past 24 hours.

Other recently listed crypto-related stocks also fell. Circle's stock, which was listed in June, declined about 2% on the 14th, and the stock price of the trading platform eToro dropped nearly 3%.

Cathy Wood has a track record of making significant initial investments in newly listed cryptocurrency companies. In connection with Circle's IPO, ARK purchased approximately 4.5 million shares, which were valued at around $373 million at the time. These shares are now worth about $675 million.

Investment in eToro is smaller than this, currently consisting of about 140,000 shares valued at 6.5 million dollars.

Blish's strong debut on the New York Stock Exchange and Ark's rapid capital allocation across multiple ETFs have highlighted the increasing interest of investors in listed cryptocurrency infrastructure companies, despite the high market volatility.
