Central Bank clarifies: Digital RMB is still in testing and has not been officially launched.
Recently, the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China issued an important statement. It is reported that the information circulating online about the Digital Renminbi (DC/EP) is only related to the testing content in the technological development stage and does not represent that the Digital Renminbi has been officially launched. The institute emphasized that the ongoing closed testing will not impact the existing financial system, including the daily operations of listed institutions, the issuance and circulation mechanism of the Renminbi, as well as the overall financial market and socio-economic environment.
According to authoritative sources, the research and development of the Digital Currency Renminbi is progressing in an orderly manner. Currently, the project has basically completed key stages such as top-level design, standards formulation, function development, and system joint debugging. Throughout the process, the R&D team has consistently adhered to core principles such as dual-layer operation, M0 substitution, and controllable anonymity. To ensure the security and practicality of the new currency system, relevant departments have chosen regions such as Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiong'an, and Chengdu, as well as future Winter Olympic venues as internal closed pilot testing areas. This gradual approach aims to continuously improve and optimize the functions of the Digital Currency Renminbi, with the hope of better serving the national economy and social development in the future.
