Decentralized Finance regulation Favourable Information leads to polarization in the industry, with Aave leading the way to a new high in TVL.
The DeFi industry welcomes favourable information regarding regulation, with leading projects showing varied performances.
Recently, the regulatory attitude in the United States has seen a positive shift, bringing new development opportunities to the Decentralized Finance sector. Statements from some senior officials indicate that DeFi platforms may welcome a more favourable policy environment.
However, the DeFi market presents a complex situation: some leading protocols like Aave have reached a new high in total locked value (TVL) with strong fundamental data; however, many other leading DeFi protocols are experiencing sluggish TVL growth, and token prices have not been able to recover to the levels seen at the beginning of the year. Although DeFi tokens have recently experienced a rapid rebound, it remains to be seen whether this is driven by short-term market sentiment or deep value logic.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) has recently released positive signals regarding DeFi regulation. At a crypto roundtable, the SEC chairman stated that the fundamental principles of DeFi align with core American values and supports self-custody of crypto assets. He also revealed for the first time that they are studying an "innovation exemption" policy framework for DeFi platforms to quickly allow related products and services to enter the market. These statements are seen by the market as significant Favourable Information, leading to a surge in DeFi token prices.
Data shows that in the first half of 2025, the TVL growth of most leading DeFi protocols was not significant, with some even experiencing a decline. In terms of token prices, although there has been a general significant rebound recently, most have not yet returned to the levels seen at the beginning of the year. It is worth noting that there is no obvious correlation between token price trends and TVL performance.
Among them, Aave, as the leading project, has shown outstanding performance, with TVL reaching new highs multiple times and expanding to several public chains. Uniswap has officially launched the V4 version, introducing more flexible features. Sky( is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade before MakerDAO), and its Spark protocol within the ecosystem is developing well in the direction of RWA. The re-staking concept of EigenLayer has regained market recognition, and TVL is growing rapidly. Lido, on the other hand, faces the challenge of how to quickly transform to adapt to more markets.
The positive shift in regulatory attitudes has injected new momentum into DeFi. In the future, clearer regulations are expected to attract more traditional financial capital, while also meaning that market competition will become more intense. This may signify a new stage in which DeFi matures and deeply integrates with traditional finance.
